I type in "http:/shared IP address/~user name" and it just gives me a 404 page not found error. I think it has to do with a setting of in cPanel. Any ideas?

it's .....username/ not ....username (/ = you need this)
hm.. I've tried that too. "http://shared IP address/~user name/" and I still get the URL Not found 404 error. I'm positive I'm not doing any typo. I know that at least it is attempting to connect to my server because it shows what Apache version I'm using at the very bottom and what the web address is for the very first website associated with the IP is.![]()

Make sure mod_userdir protection is not on if you want that to work. WHM --> Tweak Security
If you're not going to be adding more accounts after this one, it is best to turn mod_userdir protection back on to protect against bandwidth stealing.
yah I do have an index file. The reason it wasn't working was because of the mod_userdir protection. Thanks!!![]()
