Account creation through script

Hi,

I'm working on my own cms (in php) and want to include account creations. That is being able to add and manage domains through my script and add and manage email accounts. I've got the feeling this could be done with the api, but don't exactly know which functions to use.

Does anybody know how to accomplish this? Do I need to setup a standard package and then create the account through the script? Will dns and all that be handled then?

If I would choose to just add domainpointers, would I be able to get email and stats on those as well or only of the main domain?

What's the difference between an add on domain and a domainpointer?
