    Default Account xfer issues

We transferred several accounts from one Cpanel server to antoher today. The issue we have run into is in the dns settings. For some reason all of the names were deleted from the WHM dns zones. They are there in the /var/named.conf folder with the correct settings but WHM is displaying incorrectly.

The name blocks are what are empty, but the address information is there. Is there a way to fix this?

This is bugging me. All DNS is actually running fine because the /var/named db files are all in tact and they have the correct information. WHM still does not show the information in the Edit DNS zones though. It looks like this on all the files:

    IN A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

There is nothing in front of the defining fields of IN CNAME NS etc. Any suggestions on getting WHM to show the proper information would be appreciated.

Wow, I could have used that tip saturday morning at 3am LOL. That was the problem, but it wasn't discovered until we had already started modifying everything by hand.

We're moving servers to a different location. Basically, we set up CPanel on the new server and want to copy all accounts from the old server to the new server, including DNS.

We set up CPanel, upgraded all software adn the kernel. We're running CPanel 7.4.2-R116.

I copied an account over. The accoutn copied over fine, all looks well. The zone files were created. Nothing shows up for DNS zones in WHM, however. I can see them in /var/named/ but they won't show up in WHM.

Also, I tried adding the hostname A entry via the link in WHM. It said it was adding it but it never showed up in WHM. I went to /var/named/ and there was no new zone file created for it.

I need help ASAP as the old server (our current hosting box) was moved to a 15-day trial license while we move the accounts over and it's already been 6 or 7 days. Thanks!

Check the ownership of the /var/named folder and all files within it. Ours were not owned by named:named. This is most likely the same case.

I tried chowning the named folder (chown -R) and all recursive directories and files to named:named, it didn't help.

I tried adding a DNS zone through WHM and it wouldn't add, as well.

Any ideas? Thanks for the reply.
