Addon Domain, finding and editing 404 error page

Hi All
I have a small issue I would like help with please. Does any one know how to gain access to, and then edit the error 404 page for an addon domain in a group of 4 domains?

When I edit the main one in cpanel, it only shows up for the Main Domain.

I asked the hosting company and they did not have an answer. They referred me here, knowing you guys are smart and might be able to resolve this for me

I have 'ErrorDocument 404 /404.html' in .htaccess in the addon domains directory, and 404.html is there, but does not show up as the 404 page.

Edit: Nevermind, fixed, the error page was too small in filesize. But maybe someone can explain to me why this matters. It's funny.
