Default AddOn Domains - double extension problem

    Hi there:
I am a reseller sharing a server with 2 other designers, and have just started using addon domains for clients. These were working perfectly except for any domain with double extension, like bc.ca. I have tried a variety of edomain extensions, and this seems the only culprit. Error message:

Error from park wrapper: Sorry, cannot determine nameserver IPs. Please make sure that the domain is registered with a valid domain registrar.

    WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.18.0-R20595
    CENTOS Enterprise 4.6 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

Any recommendations as to where we should be looking for resolution, or is there any?

    Connie

The domains you are trying to add, are they already registered with a Domain Registrar?

Yes, I can confirm that this problem still exist in cPanel, second level domain "name.x.y" can not be added, it will always show error...

    Default Hello

Enable the following option in WHM -> Tweak Settings

Allow Creation of Parked/Addon Domains that resolve to other servers (i.e. domain transfers) [This can be a major security problem. If you must have it enabled, be sure to not allow users to park common internet domains.]

If this option doesn't help, you can made a fun trick, like that:

    1. Setup addon domain "addondomain.com" using CPanel

    2. Edit DNS zone of this addon via WHM -> Edit DNS Zone, and change all records with addondomain.com to domain like something.bc.ca.

Also, don't forget to edit DNS zone of master domain.

    3. Edit /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf file (using SSH) and replace addondomain.com with something.bc.ca (the records you need should be in the bottom of the file, and be careful - make a backup of the original httpd.conf)

    4. Edit /var/cpanel/users/USERNAME file (using SSH), (USERNAME - username of the master domain) and replace addondomain.com with something.bc.ca

    5. Restart apache, and your addon domain should work.

    Hope it helps.

Thanks, but that is not really necessary, because if you allow creaton of domains that resolve to other servers and that are not registered any domain can be added.

Bug is only in that DNS check.
