Default addon domains redirect to subdomain

I just used the WHM copy utility to copy accounts from another server. Now addon domains that were copied will redirect to the subdomain and show the subdomain in the address bar sometimes (usually if a link goes to a folder and not a file). I found something here about adding a .htaccess file in every subdomain folder with a rewrite rule, but isn't there an easier way to do this?

    THANKS!!!

    UseCanonicalName off

I think that is causing it to work properly on the old server. Anyway to make it use this by default?

I didn't have to add that to every record, instead I changed it in one place in httpd.conf

    #
    # UseCanonicalName: (new for 1.3) With this setting turned on, whenever
    # Apache needs to construct a self-referencing URL (a URL that refers back
    # to the server the response is coming from) it will use ServerName and
    # Port to form a "canonical" name. With this setting off, Apache will
    # use the hostnameort that the client supplied, when possible. This
    # also affects SERVER_NAME and SERVER_PORT in CGI scripts.
    #
    UseCanonicalName Off

It was previously set to On. Everything seems to work now... However I'm curious... Will cPanel updates cause this to revert back to on?
