And no, it doesn't work in 6.4.2 LOL, this is crazy !
Is there a way to reset everything that has to do with FTP
and get fresh files including the config files for FTP ?

Anyone know when Pure FTP will be availible for freedbs ?

    Default Does this help

I found the /etc/proftpd/passwd.vhosts file had all the entries on my users cpanels and appeared to be correct.

My users were not able to login using IE (yes this is what they are doing)

I removed the @domainname.com from the user's id in the 1st field of the file and believe it or not it now works like a champ.

Problem is, now when they add new ftp accounts they do not work until I edit the passwd.vhosts file.

    Any suggestions?

Is there a possibility that this issue will be addressed in an upcomming upgrade.

This and the FrontPage issue have been going on for quite some time now with no true resolution.

It would be nice to know that something may be done soon with both these problems.

    Default success!

Well, check this out, it occured to me that this account I was testing had a unique IP, I tried without the @domain name and it worked.... Looks like this was my bad...

For anyone else having this problem...

Make sure the following line is in your /etc/proftpd.conf file

    AuthUserFile /etc/proftpd/passwd.vhosts

Another troubleshooting tool would be to try to login and run the following command in the shell

    tail /var/log/messages

It will display the error, such as no such user, etc....

If after adding the line above to the proftpd.conf file I would suggest to check the file passwd.vhosts file to make sure the user is listed in there.

Hope this helps whomever may need it!

For the record, and because I did not see it posted in this thread. Often the quickest and easiest way to fix an FTP problem is to swsitch to the alternate FTP program and then back again. For example, if you are using proftp on your server switch to pure and then back again. This will usually solve the problem.
