Hi
A customer of ours operates two domains - let's call them abc.com and xyz.net
abc.com is one for general company information and xyz.net is the customer facing one.
They currently have one customer server running cpanel. And they have a lot of other non-cpanel servers running all other web sites and their own web site.
We are doing some remediation work for the client where they wish to move totally to the cpanel platform and so temporarily need to move abc.com and xyz.net to the cpanel server.
The cpanel server has the hostname cpanel.xyz.net
Creating an account for abc.com was not a problem. Really easy and entering custom DNS was fine too.
However when trying to add xyz.net as an add-on domain into the abc.com account it gives an error to the effect of not being allowed to add in an add-on/parked domain to a server that has a hostname of the domain being added.
Is there any way around this? What is the best way for me to tackle it?
Or do I simply create a hosting account where the main domain of the hosting account is xyz.net rather than having it as an add-on domain. Will that work? Are there any pitfalls in doing it this way?
Regards
Denesh
