Anonymous FTP Ques

Ok ive looking around and i can't find what im looking for.

I am looking to allow access to Anonymous FTP but i don't want user's having the ability to upload files but download them only.

Is there a way of doing this so that i can set it up so that im not using the anonymous public_ftp but another folder.

I know you can gain access to the anonymous ftp via any ftp program anonymous@webiste.com however when disabled all together user's can still gain access but there is no files there but there really is but they are hidden from the user.

Is there a way i can setup an anonymous ftp user but have them the ability to download but not upload?

Anonymous FTP allows this but not what im after.

are you using pureftp ? in that case edit the /etc/pureftpd.conf

# Upload/download ratio for anonymous users.

# AnonymousRatio 1 10


make the ratio 0 10

and try.

This is actually on a shared host so i can't really do anything at this time.

I will ask the admin of the server and ask him if he can do this.
If not is there any other ways ?
