apache failed - A restart was attempted automagicly.

Ever since the latest upgrade from cpanel, I've been getting that message e-mailed to me a number of times a day. It's very random when it comes, but I would say on average that apache fails every 5 hours or so.

I've checked logs for the time it goes down and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

error_log just has normal things like "File does not exist: /home/mysite/public_html/forums/uploads/av-8739.gif"

/var/log/messages only has proftpd connecting, timing out, disconnecting.

"/usr/sbin/httpd configtest" returns Syntax OK

I've rebuilt apache in WHM, but the problem still exists. Anything else I can look at?

Could just having a high server load cause this to happen? My server is running a large busy forum and there are times throughout the day that my server load just goes through the roof. It's been like that for months though and apache just started failing in the last few days since my latest upgrade.

are you using a 3rd party monitoring software? or the default WHM monitor?

The default. I haven't installed any 3rd party software.

high apache loads ...CAN kill apache.

if your server is capable of it, i suggest increasing maxclients in /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf

It's already at 260. It might be time to upgrade to a better server but I am going to try and optimize mysql and apache to see if I can squeeze any more out of this server. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to hear them.
