    Question Apache and MySQL crash

I have upgraded to Redhat 9 recently and now it appears almost daily that Apache and MySQL crash and eventually get automatically rebooted. The site will just hang for a couple of hours and then I can get back on. This includes ALL services for example SSH. I can't even get on SSH when it does this.

Does anyone know why it is doing this?

It was working fine until I have wiped out the computer and installed Redhat 9 and CPANEL again.

Did you upgrade or do a fresh install?

I tried recompiling apache and still nothing yet. It should not be a server attack as I have a firewall.

    Hi guys

From the errors i see in the log, its mysqld thats the issue.
Not apache support for it ...

I would check your mysql out , upgrade if neccesary.
If your box is low on memory , find out whats using it all.
Use top then shift-M to organise by memory (on redhat linux anyway )

If its mysql tune mysql to use less.

see mysql config file my.cnf and www.mysql.com for config details.

You could also add a new swap file or indeed increase server memory.

Thats just my 2p from seeing the logs , which are a snippet and not a whole story of course.

    Cheers

    Neil

    Hi,

Would mysqld cause the entire system to hang? When this does happen I can't even get in via SSH, FTP, or any other method.

This only started after I wiped out the server and installed Redhat 9. Before that it was working fine.
