    Default Apache restarting automagically

    Hi,

This morning httpd restarted and I got this message:

"httpd failed @ Sun Dec 21 08:35:28 2008. A restart was attempted automagically.
    Service Check Method: [tcp connect]

Failure Reason: Timeout while trying to get data from service"

any idea how to find out what happened?

It is not uncommon to get this error on a production server once in a while, however if this is too frequent, then it may be a cause for concern. It is usually due to shortage of resources or too high load on apache. You need to monitor your server constantly for some time to get a better idea.

Thanks, it seems a new client had very high traffic on some weather report addon and the storms in the NW had people searching weather in Portland where he is. Plus his wordpress site was generating hundreds of php errors every few minutes.. I think that was killing apache. I fixed his plugins and all is well today
