Default apache version in CentOS Quick Install DVD

    Hi,

i find some post told the apache 2 is not stable enough now,

and the centos 5 is with apache.

i want to use the CentOS Quick Install DVD from http://layer1.cpanel.net to install centos with cpanel,

    is it apache2 ? or?

when you install centos with cpanel,

do you download from http://layer1.cpanel.net/ directly?

    thanks

once you install cPanel (after your os choice) you can compile apache to your needs at any time.

Default Apache 2 stable? we think so

We think that Apache 2.2x is stable.
We have been using it for some time.

I know a few server management organizations (not naming them) on here were not / may not support Apache 2.x - however our techs all agree - its stable.

In the beginning it was a little rocky w/ cPanel - but wow - what a great job they have done getting this to run like it should.

You should be able to install most any OS and then just use /scripts/easyapache from the cli or go into whm and update apache from there.

Hope that helps - if your stuck pm us.

Apache 2.0 is sufficiently stable for us to make the default on new installs.

Apache is installed via EasyApache which installs Apache 2.0 by default.

...and the apache developers recommend using v2.2 over either of the legacy versions (v1 or v2.0) - I guess they would, but I've not come across any issues running it.

I can also second this, we saw significant increases in performance when switching to 2.2 and as yet have had no trouble whatsoever with it
