Awstats runs out of memory with high traffic site

In the 3rd week of each month awstats stop running for one particular site. After some troubleshooting, I see awstats is reporting the following error, "Out of Memory!". The logs for this site are run each day, and the stats config is set to remove the logs after they are run, since the log file goes over 2GB pretty quickly.

When running awstats and monitoring the process via top, I can see the virtual memory steadily increasing over a 1 minute timeframe until the process exits with the out of memory error.

I see some others getting the same errors on the awstats sourceforge forums, but there are no answers/solutions that I have seen...

any ideas?

I've experienced this problem before. How much RAM (physical memory) is on this box?

I was able to resolve it, by adding some RAM actually. I currently have 2GB (if I remember correctly) on that box, which is bad news for you, because it looks like it isn't a RAM problem.

Maybe submit a trouble ticket?
