Default awstats settings constantly being overwritten

I'm trying to enable the Update Stats link on the page output for AWStats, so I edit the /usr/local/cpanel/etc/awstats.conf file to allow that, and after a day or so the changes propegate to the individual domain configurations.

But then it seems like a day after that, the /usr/local/cpanel/etc/awstats.conf is reverted back to the default settings. Is there a second default config file somewhere that I'm missing?
