Backing up data via SSH Command Line not working taking too long

Hi all,

I am having abit of an issue with my linux vps as since i have recently downgraded my vps to smaller vps specs i want to backup my mysql data and other data aswell mainly files and databases,

but the only problem that arrises is that when i run the command

/scripts/pkgacct username &

it runs but up to the point of copying home directory and stays on that for several hours i leave my computer turned on overnight and when i come back around 10 or 1pm the next day its still doing copying homedir why does this take so long??

the vps specs is 64mb of ram and 7.5gb of space,

Can anyone help me here?
