Default backup feature in RHE and freebsd

    Hi,
    i have 2 cpanel boxs,
one with redhat ent 3 & one with freebsd.
Both boxs have the same hardware and also the same about of sites space and BW usage.

I have see that in the backup time the redhat box is very slow as web server. Some times a simple php page need 30-60 seconds to loaded.
In the freebsd box i not have any problem.
Can everyone confirm that this is normal?
All redhat boxs are very slow during the backups?
It is possible to make any hack to resolve this problem?
    Also why this happen?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Christos Pelekis

No, that isn't normal. It would suggest that you have an I/O bottleneck to the disk on the Linux server that doesn't exist on the freebsd box. Have you enabled the IDE DMA mode? WHM > Optimize EIDE Hard Drives, as this may help the problem.

    Hm,
in both RHE3 boxs have the same problem. And are in diferent DC.
So the problem is not that the linux canot handle the load so mutch?
(the both drives run in DMA more)
You know if debian have same problems?
    Thanks a lot.
