    Default backup to remote server?

Can i use the backup function in whm to backup to a remote server somewhere else - like some server space i pay for at a hosting company?

Or must it be a 2nd harddrive on my server?

    Thanks!

At current it is for a 2nd drive only solution. There are several people though looking for a remote backup option through ftp on this forum.

It is actually quite simple to do this,
You can modify the current backup script to instead of moving the files to the allocated backup partition to FTP them to a remote location,
The best way to do this is to FTP each file after it has been compressed etc, as uploading all of the files in one go would probably give you script timeout problems,
    Thanks

Yep you are right, but it currently does one file at a time. I know they've been trying to get it do everything at once.

It though does look good and promising.

Does DarkORB have any plans to update their backup script to support this?

I know A LOT of people would find this very useful. For instance, you could have many CPanel servers back up to a central FTP server with RAID and many FTP accounts. This should not only offer better protection of data, but would also reduce the need to have a second hard drive in each machine!

That's exactly what i was thinking - more secure, and no need for second drive.
