Default Bastille on CPanel any problems

    Hi,

I asked someone to install Bastille for me they said I had to get my Kernel recompile with IPTables options configured as modules.

So I email the datacenter I have the server with and they replyed: We recommend I do not have this installed as they said they have had a fairly largfe number of customers install Bastille on the server and it gone wrong and the server become un-used able and had to have there server formated.

Has anyone had any problems/issue with this with CPanel ? if so what ?

I have done a search on the CPanel forum and didn't find anything

    Regards,
    Garry

    Hello,
i have install bastille in 6 cpanel servers without any problem.
Also i know many other people who make the same without problems.
The basic rpm red hat update is fine and it is not needed to recompile your kernel.
If you afraid i can install in your box (for free).
    Regards,
    Christos

just update to kerner via the latest red-hat rpm kernel update.
If you use this, the bastille work fine

Snort is not a firewall and snort is a system resource hog. You never want to run Snort on a busy server.
