Default Best way to log incoming/outgoing e-mail?

Two of our clients want to be able to find an e-mail sent as far back as 2 weeks-1 month ago for the future, including the text including in the e-mail. This isn't something WHM/cpanel can do right now.

What is the best way to get this functionality?

    Default I too

I too would like to do this. A need to log incoming and outgoing email with the entire message body. I have a client who has a particular legal need.

In the /etc/cpanel_exim_system_filter file you can setup a ruleset to do an unseen deliver.
So if a certain domain or address is being sent to/from you can log all the outbound mail to a designated email address without anyone knowing. EG: maillog@mydomain.com

Couldn't you use Mailwatch for that? It is part of the mailscanner package I use and I think it would do what you want. I don't know how/if it would be used without mailscanner.

    Angry

    I had this:
In the /etc/cpanel_exim_system_filter file you can setup a ruleset to do an unseen deliver.
set up and working perfectly, and it stopped this morning after the cPanel update.
    Anyone else having this issue?

Can Mailwatch log the entire message body too? From looking at it I thought it just did the transaction, sender/receiver, etc

    Default Large inbox

Even if you do the /etc/cpanel_exim_system_filter file where you send all the emails to an inbox. That inbox is going to become untenable very quickly. How do you look through it or do anything with it when it gets to a gig or two.

A good IMAP account ready shoul dbe able to filter the messages into folders for you, though you'd have to create the folders and filter rules first.

Also, if you are using maildir rather than mbox, then could you not relatively easily create a script (run from cron every now and again) moves the files into folders automatically? A combination of a little bash scripting calling find and grep would do the trick and that way you could create folders dynamically if needed (such as if you want a new folder each month/week/day).

This would be a nice feature to add into the mail options of cpanel or WHM. We currently do this manually upon request by customer, but would be nice to give them ability to do it themselves.

Anyone want to submit it as a feature request in bugzilla.cpanel.net?

So you can set up the account with a good IMAP client, could you suggest a good IMAP client?

Okay I setup the antivirus.exim file to copy incoming/outgoing to another location.

Now my question, does anyone know a good IMAP client/filter rules we can use to sort the mail coming to the new location?

    Default double messages

I updated antivirus.exim.1 and I get multiple messages when spam assassin is enabled. I tried several variations on the filtering options but none seem to work. Does anybody have any ideas on that? Does the filtering run twice if spam assassin enabled?

We are getting two copies of every e-mail, if we disable spam assassin, we only get one. Is there a way to fix this?
