big relaying problem

iam having problems i want to stop relaying. If i telnet to port 25 you cannot relay but if you go into outlook and setup a dummy account and use the server outgoing mail ip address it sends mail right through. anyone know how i can stop this

It would only allow you to do this if you have recently checked a pop3 mail account from your IP address - so you and your customers can do this, because it marks your IP address as "ok to relay" because you recently checked a pop account on your server.

Someone who has not recently checked a pop account on your server would not be able to do that.

I found our system not to be an open relay.. Cpanel 7, E55..

I tested, and nothing went through.. so.. no we are not an open relay. if we were, we'd be listed by now on the spam lists...
Right? If you've got an older system that didn't then.. upgrade may help? I remmeber Nick removed the Secure tunnel thing that was making it happen..?? Hmmm anyone out there?
