Default Blank page on webmail after tonigth's update

    I'm receiving a blank page when I access the webmail (2095/2096). www.xxxxxx.com/webmail

The problem is on Cpanel 8. I downgraded to Cpane 7.4 (stable) and the problem disapeared.

Does anyone knows about this problem?

    thanks

I'm running the 8.5.3-R4 on FreeBSD and I have this same problem.

Any idea on how to fix it?

Hopefully those people searching on "webmail blank" will find this post...

The fix for us was to (as root):

    cd /usr/lib/perl5
    find . -type d | xargs chmod go+rx
    find . -type f | xargs chmod go+r

We had opened a ticket on this subject more than 36 hours ago. I guess being a partner noc doesn't give you any benefit when it comes to support even though we pay for it. We have opened less than 10 tickets in 2 years - so we are able to support ourselves for the most part. It's only when new updates come along (like the one forced on us last week when a stable release broke every one of our servers) that we might ask for help.

Not being able to wait for support any longer, I finally got a chance to run webmaild under strace to see what the errors may be - there were lots of NOENT hits on webmaild trying to open various perl libraries. Looking at the permissions on the various perl libraries showed that they were installed with only user read/write/execute privileges - with group and other privs turned off.

This is symptomatic of earlier reports to cpanel, Inc where the various install software doesn't adequately set the permissions on files it installs - using whatever the default umask is set to rather than setting it to what it cpanel expects it to be for the programs they install. Hopefully cpanel will fix this going forward.

The techs finally did log into the one server we gave them access to, but other than run updatenow;upcp they didn't do anything else with respect to "supporting" us.

I apologize for my bitter tone, but this is not the first time we haven't been able to get support for a product we believe we pay dearly for and purposefully recommend to our customers. Support for cpanel is directly tied to the amount of support you expect to request - we selected the lowest option, which means we still pay for it. If we had an option to not pay for support, we'd take that and probably stop our bitching. :-)

I just recently transfered servers and it worked before that...

I fixed this problem by simply upgrading cPanel.

Change your update preferences to only update for the stable release, this will force a rollback, then change your update preferences to update for the edge release and then upgrade again.
