How to block upload and download of files .exe? With pureftp and apache 1.3.

Most likely you would need to use pro-ftpd not pure and the "PathAllow /Deny Filter" directives.

As to blocking Apache uploads, one way to accomplish would be to use a php upload script that limits/disallows certain file types. http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.file-upload.php

Yup.

Bear in mind that you won't actually be able to block it completely. A carefully crafted PHP or perl CGI script can workaround such restrictions with ease.
