    Default Can I download & upload zip files

    Im using CPanel via my hosting provider, so perhaps this isnt the right place to ask this question;

    Basically, I would like the ability to download entire folders and sub folders without having to manually do each file. This is because at certain times I do not have the ability to FTP.

    Ideally I would like to zip the folder(s) and and then download the zip.

    Is this function available/possible?

    Yep, he should be the one to ask.

    The answer though is yes, using the File Manger. Say you had a directory named /files/ inside public_html you wanted to compress then download:

    Click the name public_html on the left menu. On right it opens to show you all files and dirs.
    Now click on the folder icon beside the name files. it hilites for you and is ready to go.
    At top of page, click Compress. Choose your option of compression and click Compress Files.

    Once thats complete, click on the name of files.zip and the download option lights up in top menu. Click download.

    Basic explaination but should work ok.

    when I highlight a folder, the only options I get are as follows;

    Delete this folder and all files under it
    Rename this folder
    Change Permissions
    Move this folder
    Copy this folder

    Am I missing something?

    It seems you are using the 'x' skin. Ask your hosting provider to change the cPanel skin to 'x3' and you will see the 'Compress' option at the top,right corner of the window when you highlight the folder.
