Cannot update cPanel version from WHM

Hello Everyone.

I'm running cPanel version 10.8.1-S31.

Although the resolver configuration seems to be fine, my server communicates nicely with the outside world.

I can download and install patches with up2date, I can install additional scripts or themes, so the communication with outside world is fine.

However, whenever I try to update cPanel version from WHM to whatever choice I make in Update configuration (stable or release), the script does not seem to "communicate " with cPanel's layer 2 servers.

Nothing happens... it stays at 0% progress for ages.... no errors, nothing.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you may give me.

have you got a firewall ??

You need to alllow special cpanel ports
public_incoming="993/tcp 995/tcp 2082/tcp 2083/tcp 2086/tcp 2087/tcp 2095/tcp 2096/tcp 2089/tcp"

allowed_outgoing="2089/tcp"


Try those and see if it then works. Or try dropping your firewall and doing the update.

You need more open than that, especially outgoing:

You should also ensure that DNS resolution is working on the server. Ultimately, if you need urgent help you should log a ticket through your cPanel license provider to get it fixed.
