Default Can't add additional IP addresses

I am attempting to add IP addresses using WHM / IP Functions / Add new IP address. The entries currently displayed by ifconfig are:

    eth0
    eth0:1
    eth0:1:1
    eth0:2
    eth0:3
    eth1

When I attempt to add an additional IP to the system, the IP held in eth0:1:1 is dropped from the system and replaced by the new IP. The last sucessfully entry added to the systemsusing WHM was the eth0:1:1. Why was the entry created as eth0:1:1 rather than eth0:4? Is eth0:1:1 a normal entry? If not, what would cause this and prevent me from adding more 5 ip addresses to this ethernet device?

    Thanks for any help!

    Jeff

You may want to let our technical analysts take a look at your server to determine why this is happening: http://tickets.cPanel.net/submit
