can't add pureftp accounts

I can't seem to add accounts using pure-pw. I do this:
pure-pw useradd testaccount -u validuser -g validgroup -d /home/blah
then the password is reasonably complex

Then i do pure-pw mkdb

But when I try to login I get '530 Authentication failed, sorry'

This happening to anyone else?

Well, i take that back.

pure-ftpd -j -lpuredb:/etc/pureftpd.pdb &

Can you add an option in cpanel to allow the starting of pure-ftpd with virtual user support?

and while you're at it, please make it run pure-pwconvert after after account creation.

I doubt that you'd be able to use those utilities with the way cPanel configured things properly. If you want enhancements you need to log them in bugzilla:

It's just my way of thinking that if a patch isn't going to be offered for an ftpd daemon when we are advised to switch away from it, a comparable daemon should be offered. I had a bunch of anonymous accounts set up with restrictive permissions and without those utilities it's not possible to do.
