Default Can't recieve external mail, only local mail is coming in.

    Hi all,

Nobody at burst.net can't fix this or knows what the problem is so maybe one of you does.

None of our clients can recieve any mail with their email client.
Everything seems to be up and rebooting doesn't help either ;-)

    Please help.

We had this problem on a server. All that was needed was a restart of bind.. however, since you have rebooted..

Do you have a slave DNS machine also? And do you know of any errors that users are getting when they send a mail to you?

If you want, supply me with an email address on the server and i'll check this for you..

    Hi Domenico,

They have probably checked all this, but I would check the following:

    1. Make sure bind/named is running and resolving properly.
    2. Check /etc/wwwacct.conf for any IP address errors.
    3. Check the permissions, ownership and content of /etc/localdomains
    4. Check the permissions and ownership of the files in /etc/valiases
    5. Make sure the actual directory /etc/valiases is chmod 755

That's all I can think of for now

Thanks for your answer Bert but the problem has been solved.

Nobody knows what or how but the problem solved itself

I hope this never happens again because I might as wel run some Windows servers instead ;-)

    Thank you,
    Domenico

btw. I allready checked what you posted and everything was ok...
