    Default Can't send email

    Hi.
I've setup an email account in cPanel and used the "config mail client" linkto add all the details to MS Outlook.

I can receive emails fine, but I can't send them, I just get this message...
"Send test e-mail message: Outlook could not logon to the outgoing mail server (SMTP)
The problem could be the server name, your server may require authentication, or your
server may not support SSL. Verify authentication and SSL options under More Settings."

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    - Joseph

You should tail your exim mainlog and watch for errors. If you don't see any, then your ISP may be blocking port 25 and you should try running exim on an addiitional port which you can setup in WHM > Service Manager.

If you are not the server admin, you need to speak to your web hosting provider.

I did as you said about the port and it's running great now.

    Thanks!

ah, spoke to soon... it worked for about 10 mins... guess my ISP (AOL) blocked that port.

A good alternative to fool such blocking is to use the TELNET port (so long as it;s not used on the server, which it ought not to be) and run exim up additionally on port 23.
