    Question

Do you use earthlink by chance? I'm having the same problem. Set my outgoing to use earthlink and it works. I wish I didnt have to do that though.

If you have a second copy of Exim running on Port 26 (WHM/Server Setup/Service Manager/exim on another port).. and set your outlook or other mail client to use port 26 for SMTP (along with SMTP auth), you should have no problems with Earthlink or other ISPs which block port 25. (I use Earthlink and Yahoo/SBC without problems)

    Here is the error messege:

Task 'NetGeek - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC65) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ?!??"'

I am not sure why this guy is posting this problem here. This forum has nothing to do Outlook or Outlook Express issues and you are better off searching the Internet or Microsoft Web site for a solution to this problem.

Here is a possible solution posted on a different forum:

I don't know how you can't see why its relevent??

    here it is :

    Factor 1: CPanel/WHM
Factor: Outlook (including my account settings)

    -----

Factor 1 has gone under alot of changes and upgardes due to security issues (I only upgarde to stable dist. but had to use release dist. for the apache upgrade as cpanel recommendation)

Factor 2 never changed it is the same software/version/account settings

And changing factor 1 started a series of problems!

Where do you think the problem is??

If you look at the exim_mainlog while you're trying to send mail, what do you see? How about the maillog? Did you try to telnet to yourdomain.com 25 to make sure your ISP hasn't rolled out any changes that are prohibiting you fro reaching the server, or that are hijacking your connection? Outlook's reporting is (to put it nicely) lacking, and that alone is insufficient for anyone to offer anything other than guesses.

It is very annoying to see people asking extremely basic questions without doing the least bit of homework. If any one without basic system administration expertise wishes to stay in the web hosting business, they need to educate themselevs, or hire someone to administer their systems.

Feel better now? Always good to see someone vent a little and get it out.
