Default CE 11 Update & Errors

I am getting "An error occurred with the POP3 mail server Mail server mail.xxxx.com responded:
Then nothing. I found if I turned off my hosts deny, then my pop3 works. This also seems to affect webmail and other apps as well. This just started happening with tonights update. Any suggestions? I need to turn back on my hosts_deny file, so what should I put in my hosts_allow to avoid service interuption?

On another note, I am also getting the follow message on an hourly basis.

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library './' - ./: cannot read file data: Is a directory in Unknown on line 0

    Thank you for your help,

    Xavier

What do you have in your hosts allow? Port 110 is pop so if that is the only service you are having trouble with its the port you need to open, assuming no ssl.

For your second error does php -v show that error? If so take a look at your php.ini maybe you are trying to load a module that does not exist or has a bad path.

I am getting this error with memcached.so. Where can I find this module, and what is it? Is it eAccelerator? I have the latest one installed!

Its something you have to compile yourself as a module for php http://pecl.php.net/package/memcache

Thanks eth00. But I don't even use memcached! That's the module where yu have to add code in your application if something exists in the memory, and so forth. We have tried it before and it was a pain in the neck. eA gives us what we need without any additional coding effort.

So my question: if we're not using memcached, should it bother us?

It won't hurt but there is no reason to keep it. Edit the php.ini and remove extension=memcache.so
