Change Shared ip without downtime?

Is there anyway to change the main server/shared ip without having the usual downtime that comes with changing a site's ip?

IF you can do some prep work, pretty simple.

That prep work involves dropping all the TTL down to something like 5 mins or so, a week or two in advance. Then make the change as needed, and things will start propogating quickly.

Where it might run astray is if nameserver IP address info gets cached longer by registrars and such... not sure, it's been several years since I've had to do it...
