Changing the default settings for DNS zones???

or where you would make the changes?

What I mean is the things like the format the serial number is in the refresh rate etc is there any way to set those defaults? Cpanel sets the refresh for like 41 days instead of 4 etc.

You would have to customize wwwacct in /scripts

Though if you do your screwed for updates that change this file. We have done our own customizations to wwwacct, but we must always handle cpanel updates manually to this file.

For example we've add new files to get created, customized the sendmail part for new account setup and also changed the DNS refresh and timeout variables.

As stated though this causes a lot of extra manual work when changes to system need to be done.

Where can we find more on this? I did not even know a postwwwacct existed or could be created.

There are though a few things I don't think that can be done with postwwwacct. Like adding another e-mail address to send to when an account is created, modifing the e-mail etc...

The code snippet above is the last lines of the wwwacct script.

I asked Nick the following:

& Are those scripts definable by us, or are they reserved for
& future use by cpanel?

and he answered:

& They are definable by you.

You call one or another depending on what you need. @ARGV contains the arguments of wwwacct itself, and $user is just the username. Here's an example:

It would be great if there were similar hooks for subdomain creation.

As for techark's question, this would help on new accounts, but I don't think so for parked domains (not sure though). It think it would be better if DNS default values could be customized from WHM.

Thanks Juanra, yes I do agree that it would be better for the default DNS settings to be customizable. Along with the default mail message that gets sent when an Account is created.

We've customized ours to the point that when we create an account and receive the e-mail it can then be forwarded directly to the new user with all pertanant info already in there.
