My data centre is re-iping the block including my server. I had thought I could do it this way:
change nameserver2 to new IP at registrar
change nameserver2 to new IP on the box
change site IP too (should be independent of above)
wait to take
repeat first two steps for ns1
However, after doing the first step cpanel will not delete the nameserver on the old IP so as to allow me to start one on the new. Says it is still registered even after a day. Is there a way to go behind cpanel's back and stop the nameserver on the one IP then start it on another? Editing /etc/nameserverips does not do the job BTW; no NS is broadcast on the new number by doing that. Oh, and yes I did edit the dns of the domain on which the ns is located. Besides, if you then invode the nameserver IP function in the left column of WHM it just reedits the nameserverips file and shows the nameserver on BOTH IPs, even though it does not work on the new one.
