Default Chaning A record into Cname.

I have a problem. A client wants me to repoint his domain. And i'm not sure how to go about it in WHM.

I would like it redirected at a different web server which is hosting my new website.

Please change the 'A' record to a 'CNAME' record that points to:

    "< cleevehillgolf.zethics-asp.net>"

    IMPORTANT NOTE TO ADMINS:
A IIS redirect is not sufficient, it has to be a CNAME record.
This CNAME method is RFC compliant.

Thanks for your help in advance...

You need root WHM access and then "Edit a DNS Zone" for the domain. Without root access, you'll need to request this of your hosting company.

    www.cleevehillgolfcourse.com. 14400 IN CNAME cleevehillgolf.zethics-asp.net.
    cleevehillgolfcourse.com. 14400 IN CNAME cleevehillgolf.zethics-asp.net.

Does it still have this A record? Try making a CName for:

    www.cleevehillgolfcourse.com. 14400 IN CNAME cleevehillgolf.zethics-asp.net.

Leaving the rest of the zone untouched

I did that. http://www.cleevehillgolfcourse.com/ goes to an error.
And http://cleevehillgolfcourse.com/ goes to the old site.

    I'm stuck.

If you make any changes to the zone files, you will need to wait for the changes to propogate before they take effect.

When a new record is created, you generally don't need to wait very long before it's accessible. I've just ran an inquiry against your nameserver and all seems in order, so it's possible that it may propagate shortly. In this case if you've tried a couple of times, the older entries may not have time out. It may take up to 3 hours.

    no need to wait...
just login in whm and restart your service " DNS/Name Server (BIND) "
