Hello,
Has anybody ever tried creating a clustered cPanel, whereby there is resilience and load balancing?
You may wish to search some of the other clustering threads here so you can look at a wealth of information while you are waiting for a response.
Many have set up load balancing by synchronizing the contents of 2 cPanel/WHM servers and using a load balancing server/appliance in front of those servers. However, other forms of clustering have been attempted by customers and they typically post their results and some of their methods to these forums.
There is no official cpanel method of "clustering" available, although I believe this is a feature that is being worked on for version 12. (Hopefully)
I've seen a few installations where clustering was implemented in various success, but nothing along the scale of reliability and simplicity as the hsphere software, etc.
(ie: It *is* possible to cluster cpanel services, but it is a completely custom solution and requires a high degree of technical skill and ongoing management and maintenance to keep things running smoothly.)
To be honest, if you require clustering capability for your hosting company's success, then you should consider using a different control panel platform. Cpanel is very good for some things (best in market for many), but clustering of services across multiple servers is not what cpanel was designed to do.
I hope that helps.
