Default Code editor stopped working on all servers

    Hi
I have 3 cPanel servers and the Code Editor on all 3 has stopped working, it just loads an empty file.
    Version: WHM 11.28.4

Has there been a recent update which may have caused this?

    Thanks
    Rob

    Hello Rob,

We have a case opened about this issue. It is case #44085

The error produced in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log for this bug will be the following:

    Code:
/usr/bin/iconv: conversion from `1' is not supported
Try `iconv --help' or `iconv --usage' for more information.
This fixed code been marked for release and should be pushed into the 11.28 builds to correct the issue.

    Thanks.

    thanks.
Any timescales on 11.28 and is there a fix I can manually make in the meantime?

The timescale is short-term. It's already been through QA and set to release to public. This should mean the next version released will have it.

I'm not certain of a short-term fix for the issue. The regular editor should be working in the meantime until the code editor is fixed.

The cPanel X theme is no longer supported or maintained. Please convert to the X3 theme.

In both the legacy file mananger and file manager when a file is open to edit whether it be with the code editor or not, it does not display the contents of the file. Already upgraded to 11.28.5 and it did not help, switched tempates and it did not help.

    Try this:

Be sure you've cleared your cookies to rule that out and close all browsers. Then go back to your cPanel, login and on the bottom of the main page click the option to reset all interface settings.

Now go thru any popups you get asking questions and click File Manager to open. Tick the two boxes at bottom and hit go on this popup. Next, navigate to a file you want to edit and click once. Now click Code Editor at top of page.

You're going to get a popup here asking about Character Encoding. For me, I click Disable Encoding Check, a new window comes up and I can see the code I want to edit, properly.

(This action should close that popup for encoding and open the second popup telling you it's disabled instead of opening editor but for me the editor opens)

Ok, the upgrade has fixed the problem but we can no longer edit javascript files .js with this.
    Is this another bug?

Yes, we have case 44154 opened about the issue for .js files not being editable.

Based on the bug report, it should go into a build today or tomorrow, since it's set for backmerge and going through QA testing.

We removed the file type checking in 11.28.7 so you should be able to edit any file you want, as long as the file is below the size threshold.
