    Angry Connecting to MySQL on seperate server

    Hi,

    Ill explain my set up so you can get it in one.

    I have two seperate servers, one for databases to go on, this is purely a dedicated MySQL server,

    and the other server being a web server and running CPanel on it.

    I am having trouble connecting CPanel to the database server, its got to be a permissions problem i think.

    At the moment, i can connect to a mysql database on the database server from the webserver using a normal script for example, i am using ModernBill, so that all works ok.

    I cant however get CPanel to connect, in the "Setup Remote MySQL server" i have put the correct IP address in and also the Root server Password, and it says now using that server, but if i then try and see what processes are running or doing any MySQL stuff it comes back with the following error.

    /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at '217.199.xxx.xxx' failed error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@ns.MYWEBSERVER.com' (Using password: YES)'

    Does anyone have any pointers as to what is wrong?

    I am completely puzzeled by this and need a little help!

    Hi,

    thanks very much for the reply,

    you say change the

    [client]
    server=IPHERE
    pass=PASSHERE
    user=root

    Which IP do you put in? the Ip of the Database server?

    the password, is that the Root password for the mysql, or the server?

    I am trying to setup 2 servers to share 1 dedicated mysql server, and having problem configuring eximstats and horde databases. Could you please share how you did this? Thank you.

    It should look like this:

    Change it so it looks like this
    [client]
    server=IPHERE
    pass=PASSHERE
    user=root

    This will fix it. Now the pass is randomly generated so dont flip out if it isnt what u gave it.

    I think I am the only one here running remote mySQL. So let me know if u need any help. I am currently running 3 servers off of 1 mySQL box... reliability is so much better. I am also running 2 seperate NS servers, so that helps to

    When connecting to MySQL from a remote server, you must have access privileges setup on the remote MySQL server to connect to MySQL. So if your connecting from Server1 to Server2 you must have access configured to connect TO MySQL2 FORM MySQL1

    I got an error when I run :
    root@serveur17 [~]# mysqladmin processlist
    mysqladmin: ERROR: unknown variable 'server=67.19.107.144'

    if this is from an error in the your my.conf file it should be host=67.19.107.144 not server=67.19.107.144.
