Correct Date and Time

Hi, I am transfering from an old host to a new one, and I am trying to get my customers emails too because one insists on using IMAP. But he wants the correct dates and times on his emails, and it displays the times I uploaded them to the server. How would I go about getting the correct D&T's on there?

You can use NTP on both servers to make sure time is accurate.

NTP is network time protocol. This synchronizes server time with remote time servers.

I do not have root access to the server.

I don't have root, but it doesnt seem like it's a time issue, it seems like it can't read the emails correctly to put the correct timestamp on them. I uploaded them with FTP.. What can I do to correct this problem for this particular customer?

How are you transferring the emails? Are you using cp to copy the files? That will change the times. You could just tar up the emails and transfer them, or use an email imap client to transfer them, or use one of cp's switches that preserves time and date to transfer them. Those methods will all keep the same time and date on the files.
