Default Cpanel is accessible, but PHPMyAdmin isn't.

    Ok, here is the story.....

I have changed the password for a user on one of our servers using WHM. The password works great when accessing CPanel, but PHPMyAdmin says Access Denied.

Does it make any difference that the username of the customer has a _ in it?

    How can I fix this?

Same here, across the board. I think this must have happened in a recent update. I'm going to try to go ahead and update to the latest release version and see if it fixes it.

    *bump*

I have a reseller that can not access any of their phpMyAdmin databases, because of bad login/password (according to phpMyAdmin, though cPanel logs them in fine)

    Help?

Giving this a bump because it is my problem too. I have updated to the lateset EDGE release, have installed "php-mysql" via RPM's in WHM, ran /scripts/fixmyql and have had no success...

    I was told:

phpmyadmin cannot be accessed with root or a root password. You must access it via the username and password for that specific users cPanel.

but I have always been able to access phpmyadmin as root before about 3 days ago. I use it to set permissions, add users, etc. Why has this changed and how can we get it back?

You have never been able to access phpmyadmin with the root password. You might have had the users password cached in your browser.

I need to clarify: I have always been able to access phpmyadmin my MYSQL root password. Not my WHM or server root password. Now I CAN'T access phpmyadmin with my MYSQL root password.

    Does that explain it better?

Or have had a standalone copy installed. We have that so that we can access phpMyAdmin as root. (All security precautions taken)

No, I've been using http://IP:2082/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php to access phpmyadmin as root using my MSQL root password.

    Hi gertiebeth,

I understand what you are talking about here
Since I maintain 98% of the server this is the far easiest way
to maintain every clients databases at once without going to every control panel.

Did you try to reset the MySQL password via WHM?

Maybe restarting MySQL would resolve your issue as well.

I had only encountered this problem once, that was when I updated MySQL from 3 to 4. and the following two suggestions had worked.

    Regards,

    Pete
