Default Cpanel add-on module script update problem

    Hi!
    My first post here!

Ok...This affects many of us hosts..so I'll post this here. It has been a long standing problem with not only Fantastico but addon modules..with people not updating their scripts. Cpanel can up with a solution: Notify users when updates are available. It doesn't work, though.

Unlike many of you..*I* will have user accounts on all my servers and use them on a regular basis...as a user..to find things that don't work..before real users do. Nifty, huh?

I even have accounts on other hosts..why not?
Well...I installed phpbb yesterday on one of those..and decided to click that link..and try this "feature" out..to notify users of new updates. Guess what I got this morning:

    Email:

You Have cPAddon Script Installs That Need Upgraded

    Hello brybert,
Below is a list of your addon CGIs that need to be updated.
Please login to cPanel and update them right away.
Please contact your host if you have any questions.

    - phpBB installation at http://mtnrcs.com/forum/
    Registry: cPanel::Bulletin_Boards:hpBB.0
    Installed: v2.0.21
    Latest: v2.0.19

Uh-huh. Sadly..the version that installed yesterday *is* the latest version..of course. I even have the 3.0 beta as well of phpbb.

This is a very bad thing. Please fix it.

I just decided to install the same in Fantastico..and see if it actually updates customers correctly as well.

    Thanks

    Bryon

Default I have that email going out to my customers but

I have that email going out to my customers but when I try to turn it off in whm every one is still getting them and the updates work for some but not for others so we have gone to manually updating all the scripts as needed.
but people are getting daily emails and we cant turn the emails off so people are marking them as spam and getting the server black listed.
    ---in the whm under tweak----
Notify owners when their users have cPAddon installations that need updated
Notify cPAddons Adminstrator of cPAddon installations that need updated.

I have turned off both of these and the emails keep on coming.
how do we stop these notices?
    thanks
    Robert

The user will need to disable cPAddon notifications. In the Site Software interface within cPanel is the following sentence:

    Code:
You currently are set to receive a notice when updates for your installs are available. Click here to turn it off.
Click the word 'here' to disable the notification.
