Default Cpanel Current , and Apache2

    Hi all ,

Im hoping for a little hope here .

I have a configuration that ghas apache2 as a requirement , for this I have been testing the EDGE version , however there are so many things that just dont work as there meant to in EDGE.

So my question is , how long is it untill we will be able to use apache 2 with the CURRENT release (or is there something im missing that would allow this configuration .. )

ROFL! We've been using EDGE on production level for more than a year on
hundreds of servers and any instance of any real problem is EXTREMELY rare!

99.99999% of all the "so called" problems people attribute to EDGE is almost
always totally brainless, careless stuff on the part of the Cpanel programmers
that we can fix ourselves instantly in a matter of seconds so not a problem!

It always amazes me that so many people out there can't even fix the easy stuff
and shocks me more when I see so many people spend weeks and even months
working on various issues on their servers that should all be immediately
intuitively obvious to everyone on the planet!

In any case, EDGE works great and everything functions just fine! I find EDGE to
be very stable and we have it running great across our entire
    hosting network -- no problems!

Side FYI: All our servers are running Apache 2.0.59 or Apache 2.2.3

    Hi there ,

Thanks Spiral for not answering, or attempting to answer my question.

Ill quote it again , incase someone who actually knows the answer can give some input.

So my question is , how long is it untill we will be able to use apache 2 with the CURRENT release (or is there something im missing that would allow this configuration .. )

I honestly don't think anyone could give that answer. Probably not even cPanel guys. I doubt they can predict testing results and fixes stable enough to drop down into the sane user release builds.

You would be best asking them directly via support instead of the forums for any accurate information.

    Thank you jayh38,

Id expect that there will be some penciled dates as to when the regression testing , etc is to be near completed.

I understand that Nick from cpanel frequents this forum , and to be honest I feel its something that the community need to know (you may be using custom apache 1.x modules , which will not work if an 'auto' install came across and upgraded your apache install ..) .

I will make a support ticket, and post back here with the answer , however if anyone else has asked the guys at cpanel this question recently, then any feedback would be appreciated.

Also , if anyone else is interested in this topic , please post here !

    Excellent,

Many, I'm sure, would be interested in the information you gather.

Kevinm, I can defintely help you miagrate to Apache 2 on Edge
and I can make it work well and stable for you ... no problem.

However, as to when Apache 2 will be available for Current,
I don't think anyone can really answer that question.

The Cpanel programmers probably could not tell you either
because they far too often keep pushing back their own
projected release dates and any word from them would
probably be tenative and subject to change at best.

I have apache 2 running stably with edge , its just the cpanel falls over in different random places (at the moment current edge has a problem with the raw log manager not working correctly) , and every few days there is another random issue) , I have over 50 servers running apache2 + edge , so am no n00b, i'd just like to get some form of upgrade path in mind as to when the devs will commit to a given timescale .

No-one that is running 'current' at the moment with any level of customization on there defacto cpanel install would like an automatic update to trash their web servers , so for that matter alone , some form of projected release date would be `nice`.

I have a ticket logged, and will post back the outcome .
