cPanel deletes Frontpage themes, borders etc
Help, please! I'm an end-user trying to publish a site with Frontpage 2002. However, cPanel is interfering with my htm files. My host's tech support cannot resolve it. Has anybody seen anything like this?
In the terse description below, "my_search_page" uses FrontPage's search component. Also, I always clear my browser's cache before running any test.
Host configuration: Linux, Kernel version 2.4.24-grsec, Unix 1.3.29, cPanel build 8.5.3-STABLE 3
1. cPanel says FPE installed. Publish site: FP2002 says FPE are NOT installed! After upload, go to my_search_page and do a search using FP component, get "error FPE notinstalled"
2.cPanel uninstalls FPE. Search,get error (as expected)
3.cPanel reinstalls FPE. Now all the FP2002 stuff is removed - theme,link bars,etc. My html on site now contains:
<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="none, default">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="none, default">
Navigate manually to page. search using FP component OK. FPE are installed but my web pages have been interfered with!
4.publish again. FP2002 warns FPE not installed, uploads ok. Page has all themes and links etc. The html includes:
<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="citrus 011, default">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="t, default">
Click to go to "my_search_page"; search fails because FPE are not installed! Back to stage 1.
5. cpanel says FPE installed: uninstall FPE. CLEAR CACHE. Still see my page with theme and links etc, but the search says FPE not present.
6. install FPE. CLEAR CACHE. Now back at step 3.
FPE are installed, because the search works But no theme on page. If I publish site again, at step 4, I'm in an endless loop ...2,3,4,2,3,4...
Shall I just give up trying to use the extensions???
