    Default cPanel DNS Clustering.

    Hello,

I'd like to know about the cPanel DNS clustering in details. One wondering question here.

If the main DNS only server goes down. What would happen to the other added nodes/servers? Would they get affected during the downtime of the main DNS only server?

Also, Could I have a DNS clustering enabled within a current working-node (aka production node)?

    Thank you.

    1. No, the downtime of main server won't affect the other servers.

    2. Yes, you can configure DNS clustering on a working server and sync the DNS records across to the ones in the cluster.

BTW, I am assuming you are referring to dedicated servers as node.

The first zone synchronization request after a cluster node goes down will incur some over head due to request time out. Once the other nodes detect the dead node, synchronization requests to the dead node will be disabled automatically. This is only done in 11.25.0 and higher.

Round robin DNS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Load balancing with Road Robin
Round robin works on a rotating basis in that one server IP address is handed out, then moves to the back of the list; the next server IP address is handed out, and then it moves to the end of the list; and so on, depending on the number of servers being used. This works in a looping fashion.

Cpanel clustering dns is redundant dns server or failover dns server
