CPanel, DNS, and serial number

Hi,

On a DNS record, the serial number is something like this : YYYYMMDDnn, so where YYYY is the year on 4 digits, MM the month, DD the day, and nn a number.

When I edit a DNS zone and then perform a sync, only the nn is incremented, the date does not change. Is this a normal behaviour or is it a configuration issue somewhere?

So if I have my serial number to 2009072508 for instance, and I change something, either I let the system put 2009072509 instead (the problem will be when it comes to 99), or I change the serial myself ?

And if I change it myself, I can put 2009080301 for instance, I do not have to put 10 (after the 09) ^^

Correct to both questions. The main thing is the resulting serial must be higher than the old serial in order for the changes to propagate correctly.
