    Question cPanel DNSOnly Questions

I have installed cPanel DNSOnly on some fresh lonely servers to get a cluster going on them.

A couple questions. Where is the documentation for DNSOnly? WHM does not appear to work for it at port 2087 so is there any interface for it at all?

Is there any license fee for this DNSOnly version?

cPanel DNSONLY offers the WHM control panel as the graphical user interface (GUI) for administrative setup and clustering configuration; the documentation for WHM is available here: WHM User Guide

Please note that WHM in cPanel DNSONLY will have the necessary DNS clustering related features that are also found in a full cPanel/WHM installation, all of which is detailed in the aforementioned documentation.

The following article should help to get started with DNS clustering configuration: Guide to DNS Cluster Configuration

For troubleshooting installations please ensure to review the following documentation article: Troubleshooting a Recent Installation

Regarding access on WHM port 2086 and the WHM SSL port 2087, please ensure that you have disabled any firewall that may be in-use before attempting to login as there may be stock-default OS firewall rules that could block connection attempts. Please ensure the access URL is entered correct, like one of the following examples (where "server" should be replaced by your server IP address):
    Code:
    http://server:2086/
    https://server:2087/

cPanel DNSONLY is designed and intended to be connected to cPanel servers in a cPanel DNS Clustering configuration. cPanel DNSONLY is offered for free without a separate fee, enabling you to setup fully-functioning, dedicated name servers for greater redundancy and DNS availability. The following page of our web site includes a more detailed description with additional information: Related Server Software - cPanel Inc.

Yes, I am familiar with cPanel/WHM.

Fresh install of Centos 5.4 and then cPanel. Nothing else installed and cannot reach it via 2086 or 2087.

Thank you for the follow-up and information. If needing an easily-managed iptables rule set for firewall configuration I may suggest the third-party product CSF as it includes a WHM plug-in that can be used with cPanel DNSONLY; this, along with similar third-party add-ons, may be found via the following thread: Third Party Applications Available for cPanel/WHM - cPanel Forums

Yes, we use CSF on almost all of our servers. Although 4.99 is a little buggy it was the first thing to go on!
