    Default CPanel Error Adding Subdomains

Hi, At the bottom I have listed all the threads I have read about this subject prior to posting.

I still can't seem to get it to work.

    I added:

    nameserver 127.0.0.1

to the resolv.conf file, and I also added:

    sub.domain.com. 14400 IN A ipaddress

to the zone file. No go, still getting this error:

    Error adding subdomains to domain.com:

    SubDomain Adder
Can't lookup domain.com sub.domain.com could not be modified because it does not resolve to a valid ip address. Please ask the system admin to check their resolv.conf and their dns trust relationship Ignore any messages of success this can only result in failure!

    Any extra ideas?

    Thanks

Ok, this is what I did.. it seems as if CPanel is still buggy in adding domains (from what I've read in previous threads). So I added the VirtualHost information in httpd.conf, created the new directories and added the zero byte files to valiases and and vfilters.

I'm able to see the subdomain in CPanel now, and also able to browse to the subdomain in my browser.

Have I missed anything? Other than that.. anyone know why CPanel would bail when trying to create the subdomain even though all the DNS information is correct?

How do you have nameservers setup ? Is the server running cpanel the master nameserver?

No, it isn't the master nameserver, but it does have its own nameserver running. The other side of this story is, my clients are able to add subdomains to their other domains on the same server except for this one single domain. That is what is surprising.

The first nameserver in resolv.conf should always be the master nameserver. If the local server is the master nameserver is should be 127.0.0.1

Got a question... Haven't seen this before, but why wouldn't all the entries in resolv.conf be checked? This one redhat box seems to only use the first entry and not try the others.
