Default cPanel fails to load at boot.

Hoping someone here can assist me please!

    System:
    FreeBSD 5.3-Release-p5
    WHM 10.8.0
    cPanel 10.8.2-RELEASE 119
    Apache 1.3.36
    Perl 5.8.8
    PHP 4.4.2
    MySQL 4.0.27

Updated cPanel via https://www.MY_SERVER.com:2087/scripts2/upcpform - at time was on cPanel STABLE, manual updates only. Manually updated. On server reboot, nothing autostarts. httpd, inetd, imap, exim, mysql etc... none of `em. Bind, named, usbd and sshd are the only services starting on boot. Have checked /usr/local/etc/rc.d and all scripts are present and correct.

Upon manually attempting to start cPanel, received...
    Code:
Could not find functions file, your system may be broken
Was advised by ThePlanet TechSupport to updgrade to latest RELEASE build, so did so... this removed the above error, allowing cPanel to start manually, but in terms of starting automatically on bootup, no change.

All work fine when manually started by hand, ./ each sh script within /usr/local/etc/rc.d, and for those services without a script there, I simply head to /scripts/restartsrv [relevant_service_name], and all manually start absolutely fine.

ps -ax shows "sh /etc/rc autoboot" running (3 times)

If I manually run this, I get the following error:

    Code:
    Pre-seeding PRNG: kickstart.
    Loading configuration files.
Entropy harvesting: interrupts ethernet point_to_point kickstart.
    Starting file system checks:
    /dev/ad0s1a: NO WRITE ACCESS
/dev/ad0s1a: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.
Automatic file system check failed; help!
    Terminated
Have run fsck. Sorted itself out. Rebooted. Exactly same. Is the above error the cause, with the system terminating autoboot?? If so, anyone any ideas on a fix?? Server's worked fine for around a year prior to this, and no other changes were made other than upgrading cPanel build, backend scripts etc.

Any suggestions as to logs I should be checking for further related errors?

/var/log/messages isn't showing much of use... only errors showing up in there (to which I have no understanding of the meaning thereof) are as follows:

    Code:
