    Default cPanel & Fedora Legacy

I just took a glance at my WHM, and I saw:

Fedora-Legacy updates now available for Redhat 7.2,7.3 and 8.0 Fedora-Legacy updates will automatically be installed, if you have selected rpm updates. (8.7.0 build 9 or later only ONLY)
    My server has version 8.7.0-E25.

I looked around in WHM for any settings that mentioned Fedora-Legacy project, but didn't find any.

The closest I could find was the regular "Change Update Preferences" page, but that makes no mention of the project.

    Cpanel/WHM Update Preferences
    Cpanel/WHM Updates:
    Automatic (STABLE tree)
    Automatic (RELEASE tree)
    Automatic (bleeding EDGE tree)
    Critical Updates Only (RELEASE tree)
    Manual Updates Only (STABLE tree)
    Manual Updates Only (RELEASE tree)
    Manual Updates Only (EDGE tree)
    Never Update

    DarkORB Package Updates:
    Automatic
    Manual Updates Only
    Never Update

    Security Package Updates:
    Automatic
    Manual Updates Only
    Never Update

    Build Types
EDGE Edge is the bleeding edge tree. While it has the newest features; It has undergone the least amount of testing.
RELEASE Release builds include some new features, and are tested for a longer time then EDGE builds.
STABLE Stable builds are EDGE/RELEASE builds that shown no problems after they we in production use.

So, how do I take advantage of this added feature?

It does it automatically. That's why you don't see anything. If you run /scripts/rhlupdate you will be getting the latest rpms from legacy.

    DarkORB Package Updates:
    Automatic *
    Manual Updates Only *
    Never Update

    Security Package Updates:
    Automatic *
    Manual Updates Only *
    Never Update

As long as you got one of the options indicated above w/ an * selected, then you're set.

Erm, you can't have two selected simultaneously on the update preferences page.

    I assume you mean
    DarkORB Package Updates:
    Automatic *
    Manual Updates Only
    Never Update

    Security Package Updates:
    Automatic *
    Manual Updates Only
    Never Update

    instead of
    DarkORB Package Updates:
    Automatic *
    Manual Updates Only *
    Never Update

    Security Package Updates:
    Automatic *
    Manual Updates Only *

So does this mean I have to put fedora on myself from 7.3 or will this auto install the Fedora over the 7.3?

Fedora and Fedora Legacy are two entirely seperate projects.

Fedora is an operating system - sort of the continuation of the RedHat 7.3, 8, 9 line of free Linux.

Fedora Legacy just provides updates for old operating systems (currently RH 7.3 & 8). You still keep your current OS, it just gets updated regularly whenever a security flaw is found or a new version of a software product you have installed is found. Sort of like the way the old up2date program worked.

    Default How about kernel updates?

Does the fedora legacy updates include the kernel? Or how can I get them if they're not included? Thanks!

So I don't have to install anything for Fedora-Legacy updates for RH 7.3?

It's all done automatically as long as I have my WHM updated to atleast 8.7.0?
