    Default CPanel Licence

I would like to buy a CPanel licence for my dedicated server..but I\'m the only one that uses it and I don\'t really want to pay $99/month for the licence. Anyone know of a way I can LEGALLY get a licence for cheaper for my dedicated server? The host that hosts my dedicated server said they will install it for me but I must purchase the licence.

I believe the only way to get it cheaper is to go through a distributor (e.g. site5.com or liquidweb.com)

wizardshosting.com/datacolo.com will offer you the license EXTERNALLY (outside of DataColo NOC) for $60 i beleive... INside their NOC they offer it cheaper though

You can contact them about it... getting a dedicated server through THEM will allow you to get a cheaper cpanel license rate.

Does all this means that nobody can get a FREE version of Cpanel. Does everibody need to buy it to a distributor?

What is the link Layer 1 and Layer 2 on the main Cpanel.net page? Isen´t it a isntallation of the Cpanel?

I am in the same situation as acer2k and I think is stupid to pay $99 all month for nothing! Don´t you think so?

I think you can pay for buying the software, but not for rent it!

    Thanks everibody.

All the files in Layer 1 and 2 can only be installed on a server if you\'ve already purchased a license to use Cpanel/WHM.

You can get cpanel for free/less if you purchase a dedicated server or co-locate with a distributor. If you want to have an EXTERNAL license, then you\'ll have to pay the $99/mo. fee.

Those are only available to people that already have cpanel licenses, as was mentioned above.

This has been the subject of a lot of controversy over the past couple of weeks, at webhostingtalk.com .. basically, the providers of this software are promoting it as a service (b/c of the support and free upgrades).

How can I become a CPanel distributor? I would like to know because I\'m starting my new hosting company soon and I will offer dedicated servers and I want to offer CPanel..And..How much are distributors paying for this software? Cant be much if they include it if you buy from them for only $30. I just refuse to pay $100. I my as well go with Cobalt or (YUK!-&gt Plesk. I\'m using plesk right now just because I think $100/month for CPanel is just ridiculous! I know a quite a few hosting companies that don\'t offer CPanel because of the ridiculous price. I already pay $200/month for my dedicated server..I don\'t want another $100 bill until I can afford what I am paying right now! I\'ve been reduced to using Plesk! lol

You should be thankful for the $99 fee, a year ago cpanel was $199 per mo per server .
